whew!  yesterday almost got the best of me

headed out the door with a lump in my throat
turned to Cowboy Dan and said
“well…..this is it…the last day I walk out this door as Mrs. Smith of room 204, first grade teacher..(almost hyperventilating)

I gasped and said “well??!! don’t you have any words of encouragement??!!!”

Cowboy Dan said (as he has said E.V.E.R.Y. single time we have faced transition or crises over our 2 decades together)

“everything’s going to be fine babe”

and with that
I snubbed my way to the car

whew!!
squall #1….CHECK!

ran by the grocery store to pick up my bestie a pack of her favorite candy
and a sweet cheesy card

pulled in the parking lot at work
began signing the card

and yep you guessed it?!
waterworks

ugly crying and talking to myself for what seemed much longer than it was
I said to myself
“you have got to  get out of the car!”

so I got out
snubbed my way to the door and headed in

whew!!
squall #2…CHECK!

just in time for my LAST faculty meeting
grabbed a cup of coffee
(suppressing the rising lump in my throat)
end of the year recognitions began
and then an unexpected farewell gift and sweet words from Boss
sent me into
squall #3

please note..it is barely 8:30am!

LAST grade level meeting with another unexpected gift
with more sweet words from my dear, dear friends
sent me into #4

this is where I am going to stop the timeline for the day because until almost 2pm
it was much MORE of the same…
random acts of kindness from precious co-workers
and me
crying
all
day
long

I ended the evening and my last day as Mrs. Smith
celebrating with the graduating class of 2012
many of which were in my FIRST 1st grade class

it was the perfect way to end
an UNFORGETTABLE season

and yes..I came home and cried

but today is a new day.
my FIRST day of the summer with no end
and today
no tears :O)
