“Happiness is not the destination  but the journey”
now I didn’t come up with that
we read it off of a sign as we
journeyed home from
 happy place..
the beach
traveling with friends
especially friends who are
all women
can be tricky
sometimes it goes well
and other times
not so much
this trip?
went extremely well
if I had to pick a theme or one word that
best described this particular trip
I would choose
HILARIOUS
the people
the scenarios
the comments
and even questions
were very. very funny
there were six of us
all happily
 married women
with a combined total of twelve children
that we left at home
with the
“baby daddies”
for three nights and four days
today
I’m glad to report
all are safe and sound
now for sake of privacy
and because of the various professions
of the women
who were on this trip
I will not be using real names
instead
I will be sharing the names that each woman chose
from a variety of places
from TV characters to Spanish class
WHO:
Addison, Melissa, Pamela, Francesca, Sophia and Tamara
WHAT:
soaked up as much sun as possible because that is what we went to do and
“WE WERE NOT LEAVING!” until we HAD to.
we swam a little,
had our chairs and umbrella stolen, found and returned
stayed up late, laughed A LOT, cheered on Olympians
(the ones on TV and the one with us that thought she should have been on TV)
we raced on the beach, snacked A LOT, danced some (in the living room),
braided each others hair, discussed at length Addison’s addiction to Alka seltzer not to be confused with sizzup and Melissa’s imaginary online shopping obsession,
slept well, sneezed occasionally
(it was suggested that Tamara may have a yeast allergy)
fed the seagulls and were completely shocked when asked by an elderly woman who saw the hovering seagulls
“y’all been — it on yet?”
were so AWED by the dolphins and their majesty
that when Melissa was talking  to her husband on the phone
“you would NOT believe the #of whales?!!!”
-the husband, “whales?!?!  hmmmm.?”
shopped a little(if the grocery store counts),
listened to and sang along to a plethora of music, read a wide variety of literature,  and used poor grammar like: “bit up”, “swole up” and “pontier”(which is a new word formed from three: frontier, pioneer, and Ponderosa)
WHERE:
Fort Morgan
WHEN:
every year from this year forward
WHY:
because we had a BLAST!!!!
