we made it to the shore!
Pop, MIL, Cowboy Dan, the rascals and me
had another WONDERFUL trip to
Grayton Beach State Park
postponed a couple of months
thanks to Hurricane Debbie
but no less FABULOUS
not sure if it’s the location
or the peaceful routine
we’ve worked out:
camping-no condo
cooking-no waiting
biking-no traffic
no itinerary
no agenda
except to
R-E-L-A-X
this way
each day
feels like the first
one evening in particular
Cowboy Dan and I
in our beach chairs
on the sandbar
listening to the rascals frolic
enjoying a mini date
began to chit-chat
(I say it was chit chat–it was really more me babbling and CD listening)
me: “gosh….I LOVE the beach!”
Cowboy Dan’s simple grin said to me that he knew that..
and though he doesn’t LOVE the beach like I do
he pretends that he does
because he’s crazy in love with me too
me: “The ocean is so soothing…. refreshing…. vast.
The beach is such an awesome reminder of how very small we really are..
truly as grains of sand in the GRAND scheme of things..
The beauty of each sunrise and the “adieu” of each sunset, AMAZING…
and never the same.
And if the sight alone isn’t enough to leave you breathless..
consider the spiritual parallels…
seagulls and pelicans
reminders of how our Creator is the Great Provider,
meeting needs
one meal
one day at a time….
and the seashells
 broken pieces..
like us,
lost and found…
and finally the lap of the tide..
washing out the old…
leaving the shore
white as snow….”
Cowboy Dan still grinning….
me:  “Thank you.
Thank you for listening to me babble…
meet you here same place…
same time..
next year…. okay?…”
and yep….you guessed it
our chit-chat ended
with a grin…
