while scurrying around
during the morning household pick up
I straightened this rug
which as you can see is unraveling
 more with each passer-by
but
I love it
so I just tuck under
the unraveled part
and walk on
a bit later in the morning
as I sat for some quiet time
I read these words
“You inhabit a fallen, disjointed world, where things are constantly unraveling around the edges.  Only a vibrant relationship with Me (Jesus) can keep you from coming unraveled too.”
I began to think of
how very many people that I know
and talked with today
who feel as though
their world is unraveling….
whether it be their
finances
relationships
physical health
many.
are unraveling.
how about you?
your close friends?
family?
similar feelings?
we live in
an activity addicted society
many running to and fro
as hard as they can run
to
church activities
work
sporting and/or
extra curricular clubs or civic groups
errands
and or home “to-dos”
not to mention
our media obsession
many of us (self included)
are more in tune to the vibration of our smart phone
or what social media message may  be awaiting our reply than we are with
our Creator’s
still small voice
let’s encourage one another
to take
an hour
or a day
to take
TIME OUT
from our activity addiction
UNPLUG
for just a little while
spend some QUALITY time
with those who mean the most
SHOW them
they are IMPORTANT
and just
be still
do what we can
to stop the
unraveling

for just a little while….
ok?.
“….to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”  Romans 8:6

  1. Ah! This one spoke to my heart today! Honestly, one of my biggest struggles is learning to “be still.” It’s just not my nature – I’d rather run myself into a frenzy than relax and just bask in the “quiet time” God provides for us. Just yesterday I was reading the Bible and was (once again) struck by the passage, “Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things…Mary has chosen the better part.” Why is it so hard for all of us to stop the unraveling? I guess it’s our flesh nature (as opposed to spiritual nature) just trying to take over…once again. Thanks for your posts! Love them! Great reminders…

  2. Ditto Cammie! I am Martha by nature as well. My heart longs to be more like Mary. THank you for reading and taking the time to comment. Have a great evening.

  3. I love the “unraveling” analogy…life can so feel this way! Thank you my dear friend for always encouraging me just when I need it! Love you to pieces… Tammy
