“..Love your neighbor as yourself.”
have you ever given much thought to
‘who is my neighbor??’

maybe you live in town and have neighbors on each side
or maybe you’re like the Pioneer Woman and live miles from even one

but we all have “neighbors”
your neighbors could be
your spouse
children
family members
coworkers
church families
friends

other neighbors we may not know as well
 but are neighbors nonetheless

drive thru window worker
woman at the checkout
handyman
homeless man, woman, boy or girl

“red and yellow, black and white they are precious in His sight”

and if we KNOW HIM
they are to be
“precious in OUR SIGHT ” as well

TRULY.

I was challenged with this thought today
and I challenge you
PARTICULARLY those of YOU reading
who PROFESS CHRIST as SAVIOR and LORD of YOUR LIFE

do you (and I)
R-E-A-L-L-Y
 LOVE your NEIGHBOR as YOURSELF??

do you prefer the needs or wants of others before your own?
are you PATIENT with your neighbor?
are you KIND to your neighbor?
are you JEALOUS of your neighbor?
or BOASTFUL or PROUD or RUDE towards your neighbor?
are you IRRITABLE towards your neighbor?
do you keep a record of your neighbors wrongs?

tough huh?
I think so.

One said
“it’s IMPOSSIBLE to LOVE your neighbor as much as we LOVE OURSELVES.”

 we are a generation
IN LOVE with OURSELVES
and if you say you aren’t

I question your authenticity.

so I would agree with the one who said it is impossible.
Impossible without God’s grace.

but by HIS GRACE
not only is it possible
it’s commanded.

Now 7  by this we know that we have come to know God: 8  if we keep his commandments.2:4 The one who says “I have come to know God 9  and yet does not keep his commandmentsis a liarand the truth is not in such a person. 2:5 But whoever obeys his 10  wordtruly in this person 11  the love of God has been perfectedBy this we know that we are in him. 2:6 The one who says he resides 12  in God 13  ought himself to walk 14  just as Jesus 15  walked.  (I John 2:3-6)

so this week
at work
at home
on the road
in the grocery store
or in line at Lowe’s
consider your neighbor
ask God by His grace
to help you (and me)
LOVE THEM
as we love ourselves

a quote to consider in closing

“For love to be genuine, you must possess God’s characteristics.  By His grace, He must give these to you, or your own human love is like a mask that you use for appearance only.”  -Madame Jeanne Guyon
