Cowboy Dan and I are blessed to have a healthy relationship with each of our extended families. We visit and eat with both on Thanksgiving Day.
(NOTE TO SELF: diet starts NOW)
but the FAMILY
I will be referring to for the remainder of this post
is my mother’s rather LARGE extended family
is my mother’s rather LARGE extended family
Precious is one of four singing siblings
She has one sweet sister and two crafty brothers
The generation that began as four
found love, married and
beget 16 more
not all shown |
who found love, most married
and beget 32 more (and counting)
always a BLAST trying to get em’ still! |
as Thanksgiving nears
it is my privilege each year
it is my privilege each year
to send out details
to as many as can be found
(>INSERT< a dab of crazy..and a dash FUN!)
the invite usually reads something like this:
CALLING all PILGRIMS and INDIANS!
It’s TIME for the ANNUAL FEAST!
GATHERING at 11
@ our house
HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
Fine print isn’t necessary
all know
it’s not a suggestion
it’s TRADITION
DRESSING AS PILGRIMS and INDIANS!
and no.
you aren’t on Candid Camera
we REALLY do!
it’s always a TREAT
to see
who will come dressed as what?
We never know until they show
how many
PILGRIMS or INDIANS
they’ll be
young and old
short and tall
all play along
oh…except for the OUTLAWS
(which includes Cowboy Dan & the other spouses who choose not to participate…BOO!)
Pilgrims usually (but not always) in black and white
Indians adorned with feathers, burlap, and leather
each year WINNERS are chosen:
O gracious ME!
the countdown is on
what will it be
this year
for me
PILGRIM or INDIAN??
mmmmmm?
you’ll have to wait and see ;o)
