“Crap. Crap. CRAP!!!”

were the first words out of my mouth when I got in the car leaving the oral surgeon’s office today

I wish it weren’t so

but we keep it real around here

and that’s exactly what I said as I gripped the steering wheel and began backing out of the parking lot…

my multiple weeks old toothache that is now accompanied by an earache  is wearing me out

so Monday, quite sure that I had met my lifetime quota of Ibuprofen

I broke down and called my dentist …

they know it’s serious when I call because

I am a pathetic, WEENIE, CRY BABY who is SCARED TO DEATH OF THE DENTIST and

I NEVER CALL unless it’s SERIOUS

ring..ring..ring

the sweet little receptionist answered and said:

“how soon can you be here, Sweetie?”

me:

“In five..”

I went. They x-rayed. We chatted. I sweated. and left with an appointment to go see my root canal guy.

early Tuesday morning: my precious mother drove her Valium-ed up daughter to see her root canal guy

They x-rayed. We chatted. I sweated and left with an appointment to see an ORAL SURGEON

>INSERT< this is where I almost passed out and was MOST GRATEFUL my precious mother was with me

which brings us to today:

Precious rode with me to see the ORAL SURGEON  “just in case” they decided they could or would do something for me…

We arrived. Waited 2 hours. They x-rayed, we chatted, I sweated ..yada. yada. yada.  I left with an advisement to go back to my root canal guy and have the root canal

RE-DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nope.

I’m not kidding.

OH! and I spared you the additional horrifying detail that I quite possibly have a sliver of BONE trying to “work it’s way out” of my gum!

for the love.

so tonight when I sat down for my quiet time and I read

“When things don’t go as you would like, accept the situation immediately”

I couldn’t help but

LOL

Seriously, God is so RIGHT ON

ALL THE TIME

In our day to day happenings whether

good, bad, happy or sad

from toothaches, to cancer, to preterm labor and even death

we too often forget or even dismiss how TOTALLY Sovereign He is

and today He chose my toothache

to remind me that

“He’s got this.”

He’s working all things together for my good …

for our good…for those of us who love the Lord

and for those of you who don’t know Him as Savior

I’d love to tell you more about …

John 4:29

“Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?”

or why I believe….

Psalms 119:71

“It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.”

and just so you know….I care about you.

and even more than I care about you and your toothaches, and your TOUGH STUFF and stress, and disappointments.

He cares.

“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and in His good time he will honor you.  Give all your worries and cares to God for he cares about what happens to you.”

love & blessings,

Karmen

 PS…just curious…

what was your response to your latest frustration? disappointment? stressor?

feel free to share in comments :O)

  1. Thank you Karmen for reminding me of how He always has it under control. Dentists and I have the same kind of relationship that you seem too have. Facing surgery for my eye for a Macular hole and recovery time after being what it is, I have been so overwhelmed. But tonight my pastor preached on God’s grace being sufficient for all things and then your blog….well It’s okay. I now can say also “He’s Got This.”

  2. I am a Karmen too!! With a ‘K’ and everything! Found you by way of A Royal Daughter. You are funny. I sweat going to the dentist too. Even make others pray for me. Must be a Karmen thing. 🙂 I am going to subscribe to your blog…if I can figure out how…!

    1. COOL! I don’t think I’ve ever know of another Karmen with a “K”…nice to meet you…Thanks for stopping by and taking time to comment..
