"Caught in a Track"

by Karmen |

for those of you
who know
Cowboy Dan

KNOW
that he isn’t one for idle chit chat…
and RARELY
offers more than a simple response
to a question or comment
and WILL NOT debate
UNLESS he is 110% sure
his info is accurate…
(and because I have promised to keep it real-
I must admit
HE IS CORRECT MOST OF THE TIME)

throughout our 2 decades together
I have often encouraged
poked and prodded
for more details

 and when I have asked
“is that all you have to say?”…

His simple response-
on more than one occasion-
the quote
from the old man in the movie Pure Country,
“people talk too much…when they ought to be eatin’, workin’ or sleepin”

so I thought I better jot this down (for the record)

Our Saturday morning began as most do…
bacon, pancakes and Rick Jackson’s classic country countdown…

Elvis’s “Suspicious Minds” was playing

we sang along..

I sang “caught in a trap..can’t walk out”

CD interrupts and said
“no dear.”
“it’s “caught in a track” ..

I said
“oh no my love– it isn’t.”

so we debate
back and forth
for a moment
each trying to convince
the other
of error

when I said:
“let’s Google it…”

CD:
(aka Mr. Cool and Confident)
“go ahead”

so I did
and guess what??

not that I’m keeping score
or would want to BOAST
OR SHOUT TO FROM THE FRONT PORCH TO THE CARS AS THEY PASS BY

I’M RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
