you know the song
that came out in the early nineties
Things That Make You Go Hmmm??

yesterday I went on a day trip
with one of Cowboy Dan’s aunt’s
to visit the other aunt
on her birthday
she lives in T-town
(also known to anyone from the south as Tuscaloosa)

we all had a marvelous time together
visiting
eating and
antiquing
which is something birthday aunt and I LOVE to do!!
the other aunt
-which I will refer to as “sweet aunt”
does not
enjoy shopping of any form
but is absolutely
 too sweet to ever complain
about anything

not enjoy shopping of any kind.?

hmmmm?

now.
while in town
birthday aunt
pointed out various new projects
T-town has underway
since the horrific storms
that blew through last April

 the particular building
 I will now refer to
is NOT one of the buildings damaged in the storm

birthday aunt:
“see that building?”

me:
“yes.”

birthday aunt:
“you know how much those one bedroom apartments are selling for?”

me:
“no.”

birthday aunt:
“half a million dollars”

me:
choke,….. cough….gasp!
“Excuse me.  I must not have heard you correctly…..let me check for understanding.  did you say HALF A MILLION DOLLARS?!”

birthday aunt:
“yes mam.”

now
I understand
 that the
University of Alabama has an Amazing football team
and I do realize they are National Champions
and I could see with my own eyes
that these particular apartments
were a “rock’s throw” from the stadium
but
I still can’t for the life of me
make sense of the fact that
many of those little bitty tiny apartments
were selling
 and/or have SOLD
for half a MILLION dollars?!?!?!?!?!?
America have we lost all sense of reason?!!!

HMMMM?!

(….deep breath……
 and exhale)

***********
we celebrated birthday aunt’s
birthday meal at
DESPERADOS STEAKHOUSE
YUM.YUM.YUMMO!
( you must go there for supper) & (no they aren’t paying me to advertise) (not yet anyways)
the filet I had was cooked to perfection.
but the very very very BEST part of supper was
the
piece of cheesecake
that apparently
was delivered
straight
from
Heaven.
This cheesecake was so sinfully good
 it alone
is worth driving three hours from my house to T-town to eat.

mmmmmmmm!!!

after our fine meal
at Desperados Steakhouse
birthday aunt
her two handsome sons
sweet aunt
and I
went to see
one of the handsome son’s
business called
The Bear Trap Rooftop Restaurant + Bar
~let me insert here
when in T-town …
you MUST visit
The Bear Trap…
the GIGANTIC red umbrellas on the rooftop
the crimson marble bar top downstairs
the huge paintings of Nick Saban
will all
WOW you!.. they did me

while at The Bear Trap
the handsome sons
introduced us to an many interesting people
but there was one
in particular …

his name is Juan
he smiled a lot
was friendly
had a nice handshake
and
a very limited English vocabulary

the handsome son’s went on to share
that Juan

was a former ninja/Mafia
but is now a
converted
Mormon
who works hard

hmmmmmm?

interesting isn’t it.
