what's your norm?

by Karmen |

on the way home from sister nurse’s house
with the truck bed full of yard apes (aka..our kiddos)

nobody panic!!
 it’s only a block
and we drove at turtle speed
and we live in the country
and YES people “still do that”

so
sister banker turns to me and says
“you know..what we all do…isn’t normal?.”

side note: YES some of us.
.not sharing who
has worn mismatched shoes to work
  on more than one occasion

me: “what?” (full of sarcasm)

thinking to myself
you mean?

the fact that we seem to have some sort of inner sensor
 that goes off some days
almost hourly..

that says..
“wonder what their doing?”
or text “how’s your day?”  multiple times a day some days
or “what are y’all having for supper?”
or if they want to go eat lunch?
or want bring the kids over to play?
or “you want to go exercise?”
or that we go over and help each others kids with their homework?
or call and ask “can I borrow something to wear to work tomorrow?”
or that we drive each others cars because ours has a flat?
or that we want to go to the Smokies for Christmas because “we just don’t see each other enough?”
or we go and clean at each others houses..
or call and ask “do you need anything from town??”
or that we give our thoughts on each others business many times without even being asked for it

me:  “yea.  I know… I wonder what other family’s “norms” are??”

and then

I get home after supper with the sisters and our families

and sister banker
text me:
“but who wants to be normal?  love you guys. had fun.”

and I text her back
“yea I prefer our abnormal over the world’s normal any day.”

she text back
“me2”

so…..
how often do you see and spend
quality time
with those
nearest and dearest to you????

what’s you norm??

night.
