what’s your favorite room
 in your house?
you know?
the one that when you step over the thresh hold
you get that
“gosh, I love this room!”
warm and cozy feel?

mine is
 our bathroom
now
if discussing our master bath
is too weird
or awkward for you
you may want to walk away now.
I take no offense

but for those of you
who choose to humor me
by reading my random thoughts
here’s why
our bathroom
is my favorite room:

I cleaned houses
while in college
and there was one house in particular
that I LOVED to clean
I referred to it as “the doll house”
I loved the owner’s decorative style
each room had it’s own theme
never too cheesy or matchy-matchy
I asked the owner
who is still a dear, dear friend
“what’s your secret to decorating ?”

her sensible reply:
“if you like it..make it work!”

When Cowboy Dan and I were first married
our house was baby blue with butter cream trim on the outside
with dark wood paneling and mustard shag carpet on the inside
2 bedrooms (one with no windows)
one bathroom (which doubled as our laundry room with a stack washer/dryer)
kitchen
and a living room.

We were married 10 years before we added
our new living room
master bedroom, bathroom and walk in closet….

we finished all of the new addition
within a year
EXCEPT our bathroom
because we were out of moo-lah

it was FINALLY completed 2 years later

so I had PLENTY of time to think about
the design and decor
for our bathroom

I’d always wanted a claw foot tub
(NO whirlpool tubs for this girl! NIGHTMARE to clean!)
Cowboy Dan’s parents had a claw foot tub
in one of their pastures
they used it to water cows
but it was missing a foot or two
and the feet are almost as expensive as the tub itself

and I just don’t think I would have ever felt clean
bathing in that tub after knowing the cows used it as a watering trough..

I didn’t want a new one because
as I’ve previously stated
I almost always
prefer old over new
so after much search
and eBay bidding
I resorted to Facebook
where it JUST SO HAPPENED
a precious woman from our church had one she desperately wanted out of her garage!

SOLD!

  1. My favorite room is my bedroom. It has become my haven. I painted 2 walls chocolate brown, and two a cream. I have teal accents. We just added 2 wing chairs this summer, and I it is my favorite place to read or write or drink coffee with my man. It is a collection of thrift finds, hand me downs, and things bought piece by piece on super clearance. So fun!
