thankful #2: children

yesterday while at the doctor’s office 
waiting on one friend 
I began chatting with another

our discussion: children

this sweet friend,  like myself 
has traveled a rocky road 
along her journey to parenthood

so I KNOW 
that she KNOWS
EXACTLY how grateful I am
 for my children

as we chatted
I couldn’t help but think back 
to the days, weeks, months and YEARS 
before the rascals

those were TOUGH days
many of them 
really tough
and if it weren’t for the 
fervent prayers 
 from the cherished friends
mentioned in thankful#1: friendship
I sincerely don’t know where I would be today

I mean what I say 
and say what I mean 
each year
on the rascals birthdays 
when I thank those who
“prayed us through to parenthood”
I am ETERNALLY grateful.

 by God’s amazing grace

He has made my soul better
instead of bitter

despite the frustrating days of 
taking my temperature
endless blood work
ultrasounds
test
shots in the hip
Clomid
RAGING (with a capital R!!!!!!!!!!!!) hormones
night sweats
hospital stays
losses and 
finally weeks of bed rest
when
when I first held

Tucker Wayne
and then 
Jake Russell
in that moment

the world 

the life
I had known before

melted.

our rascals,
my heartbeat

unquestionably
positively
Absolutely
 worth it ALL
!
