Morning y’all

I’m meetin’ up with Lisa-Jo for a refreshing, five minute edit free-STRESS free story ..

Today’s word

TREE:

..”Last one there’s a rotten egg!!”  Would echo through the trees as the herd of sisters and cousins raced barefoot down the beaten path to the creek..The winner was first to swing on the rope that dangled over our creek.  I say it was ours because it was.  Tony Creek was to us what the Mississippi River was to Tom.  And it wasn’t just the creek.  The trees that cascaded and surrounded the creek were ours too.

The holly tree that grew from the stump was the meeting place where we’d muster “the plan” for the afternoon or day of play.  With pals and a plan we’d often end up at ‘Big oak’ ..Big oak was HUGE!  I was convinced angels nested in the top of that ol’ tree that reached clear to Heaven…It sat a’ top the hill just up from the creek.  It was there we discussed the heavy stuff..   you know?..how yucky boys are and how mean girls are and how our parents must have been in some sort a conspiracy to destroy us…yea that.  That ol’ tree was magical.  It took no less that five of us girls -locked hand in hand to reach around that old tree.  -Sittin’ at the foot of  big oak with the best friends any girl could ever hope for-turned out life wasn’t so tough after all…

I observe trees now even more than I did then…Seasons come and go.  Green to color to bland.  Lush leaves to no leaves.  Much like life and by His grace I am learning like Paul through it all , “.. in whatever state I am in to be content..”  Phil. 4:11

  1. What a lovely memory of a special tree. I had a tree sort of like that, growing up. We called it the “ladybug tree” because it was always thick with those little red bugs.
