to: YOU
faithful friends
THANK YOU for reading each week
from: me
the curly headed country girl who’s more than half CRA-ZAY! way more than half the time
pray for me.
I’m headin’ back to the beach this weekend with the sisters, Precious and the herd
(ages: 9,7,7,5,4,3,2)
sister banker and I just got back from our MEMORABLE girls trip to the beach
which is what I want to tell you about.
and why I covet your prayers . every. single. day…..
the morning messages began:
“it’s fine” is what we always say wether we’re really fine or not
notice she’s in her driveway waiting on her ride at 5:46 AM!
I’m still in sleepy town
her motto: “on time is late”
mine: “look for me when you see me coming”
I sent here this just after sister and I were given the bird by a crew who were apparently later than we were
for the locals
YES. I have been to the beach multiple times
YES. I should know the way by now
YES I have a phone with a GPS
and
NO. I didn’t have it on.
why?
because sister and I apparently had waaayyy too much to talk about to bother with such trivial matters
as to the city, town or state we would be vacationing in for the next couple days
but just so you know
the 45 minutes that it took us
to get back on track (or so we thought)
gave us plenty of time to get it ALL worked out
a few hours
several stops for directions later
we were still
a bit “turned around”
or as my parents have so often referred to it
we were on “the road less traveled”
…
I seriously lost count how many times we stopped and asked for directions
and I can’t recall at what point all the pines in Florida made us cross-eyed and delirious
maybe it was the bear signs on the right
or the stop sign “just over the hill”
or the Troy at Troy or the Troy at Dothan
I don’t know
I just know that at one point sister and I said
“who knew God made so many pines?”
we unanimously decided that we are “travel challenged” (translation: it is doubtful we could find our way out of a paper bag)
for many being “lost” ,”turned around” or “a bit off track”
would put you in a spin
not us
the sisters and I have spent more time lost on “the road less traveled”
than we have on the right route
and that’s ok
maybe it should upset us more
but it doesn’t
and maybe I should be more responsible and not leave home without a car charger so that I don’t have to turn my phone off and on to conserve energy
and though sister and I could’ve cried several times because we were so frustrated with our lack of direction
instead
we laughed
making the best of it
we laughed some more
enjoyed our time together
in the car and on the beach
with friends
always.
**************
side note:
while at the beach, up late laughing with the rest of the world we noticed something on Facebook
and found it quite amusing how “in touch” with their feelings everyone appears to be these days
#feeling funny
#feeling lost
#feeling relaxed
yada.yada.yada.
so for the remainder of our trip and on our way home we texted with emotion
seriously y’all
BOCEPHUS!
Hank Williams Jr. was right behind us
& of course, we just had to know if he was on board
you know???
so we could say we passed him on the interstate because
we’re cool like that
so
via notebook and pen
out the window of the car
we asked,
“GOT HANK?”
much to our dismay the driver shook his head “no”
bummed but satisfied
we sped up and went on
only to sense the shadow of the bus looming over us again
sister’s curiosity got the best of her slowing down
hollering out the window “we’re from ALABAMA! you know the BAMA BOYS?” (referring of course to the super group, ALABAMA)
the driver nodded yes & shouted back:
“WANNA GO EAT?”
with that I rolled up the window &
sister put the Camry in the wind
an hour or so later after a quick stop at Target
we passed the tour bus at Hardee’s
no detours or
“rerouting” for us
THELMA and LOUISE were headed back to sweet home ALABAMA!
PS. it took us a total of 17 hours to drive to and from point A to point B and home :O)
can hardly wait for the weekend it’s going to be #priceless
