Once upon a time there was a little country girl with fuzzy blonde hair. More than anything else in the whole wide world the little country girl wanted to be a teacher when she grew up. She practiced everyday. She loved, read to, taught & bossed her sisters and cousins and her sisters friends and her cousins friends every chance she got. She lined them up, sat them down, taught them ABCs & 123s. They called her “Betty Boss”..As the little girl grew she KNEW deep down that one day she would be-a teacher.
And then it was spring and the little country girl had grown into a teen. It was Easter Sunday when she spotted a skinny, quiet cowboy strolling across the church parking lot. The girl’s heart grew three fold that day. It wasn’t long before the girl had begun to pursue the skinny cowboy even though her mother had taught her such behavior was unbecoming of a lady. Somehow the girl KNEW he was worth pursing. There was something different about that skinny, quiet cowboy.
By summer the wanna be teacher and the quiet, skinny cowboy were smitten. One as bad as the other. Inseparable more days than not.
Fall, winter, spring, summer came and went. One year, then two. The cowboy worked hard at the dairy by day & rode colts by night. Training, riding ever chance he got that he wasn’t with the teacher in training. Day after day she drove back and forth to classes.. cleaning houses here and there.. Riding horses when she could, mostly just to be with him… He rode as though he and the horse were one. Sometimes when she’d watch him ride she’d realize she’d been holding her breath. Year three turned into four when the teacher-to-be and the cowboy decided to make it forever more. By fall they promised, “I do” and the two became one.
