So I have this growing in the corners of my bathroom for various reasons:
- I live in Alabama and the humidity here in June and July would burst the thermometers of hell some days and we haven’t turned on our air (which is a post in and of itself…why? oh, why haven’t we turn on our AIR?!)
- I desperately need to clean my bathroom. Seriously it’s so scary in there that my six year old got out of the shower last night and said, …”momma I saw OXYclean on TV…they said it cleans everything” bless.
- Classy people have moldy bathrooms
- I believe with all of my heart the Lord has allowed that gross, black mold to grow in the corners of my bathroom to remind me of the importance of living with INTENTION
Here’s the thing…we choose to do and/or not to do lots of things every single day. We are intentional except for this…I had an hour to kill Saturday so I chose to go to a thrift store. I bought what I presumed was a dress/tunic for a dollar of which I decided to wear to church on Sunday. While in the restroom just before church I convinced myself the dress/tunic that I thought I had bought was actually a bathing suit cover-up…Father forgive her. She knows not what she does… heaven help me…I digress…
Pardon me, let’s get back on topic: the mold… or doing & not doing things on purpose…I have been intentional with this word and series of questions most recently and thought I would share with you my dear friends because I doubt I’m flying solo over this hurdle….
As with the mold. I made an intentional decision to choose to ignore the rapid growth of the gross stuff that has now skanked up my bathroom.. In order for my bathroom not to be a place that scares my kids I am going to have to be intentional in cleaning it…
Apply this same question to your roles as a follower of Christ, roles as a wife, motherhood, sisterhood, work place, friendships
What am I intentionally avoiding? My quiet time? Prayer time?
How long has it been since I got alone with God and dreamed a BIG DREAM?
Have I ever asked Him what He wants FOR MY LIFE?
Maybe it’s a quality date night with your spouse that you are avoiding? (which by the way if you are the kind soul that paid it forward to J and I the other night at Tony’s Steak House MUCHAS GRACIAS—may God bless you for being such a blessing to us!!!!)
or that fun, non expensing thing we need to do with our kids….you know? SPEND TIME WITH THEM….
How long has it been since you hade a good coffee talk or lunch date with a sibling or an old friend? Is there a deal at work you need to address?
what’s gotten moldy in your life?
These are the things and people that make up our days….our days are flying by!
May I place a sense of URGENCY to MAKE YOUR DAYS MATTER!
Where do I start? is the question a woman asked me…
“In prayer.”
Ask the Lord for help.
“My grace is sufficient for you, my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the gladly about my weakness, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
Journal your prayers, your questions, your weaknesses…Open His word and listen for Him to speak to you through His word.. Allow Him to show you what roles or things are most important….
Prioritize accordingly and then
GET AFTER IT!
love y’all …be encouraged for today… I’ve got a bathroom to clean!
